Jakarta – this holiday season, PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) or KAI is making travel easier for those heading to Yogyakarta and Semarang with the return of its popular direct train service.
The direct trains will operate during the busy Christmas and New Year’s period,connecting Jakarta to both destinations without any stops.
Direct Connections to Yogyakarta
For travelers heading to Yogyakarta, direct trains will be available on December 16th and 17th. The December 16th service departs from Gambir Station in Jakarta at 11:25 PM, arriving in Yogyakarta at 5:28 AM. The return journey from Yogyakarta to Gambir Station departs at 12:20 PM on December 17th, arriving in Jakarta at 6:22 PM.
“We’re bringing back the direct train service after seeing the eager response to a similar service we offered for the Gambir-semarang Tawang Bank Jateng route on December 9th and 10th,” said Anne Purba, Vice President of Public Relations at KAI. “This service is designed to provide a more convenient, cozy, and efficient travel experience for our passengers.”
To sweeten the deal, KAI is offering a 25% discount on thes direct train services. Passengers can enjoy executive class travel from Jakarta to Yogyakarta for just Rp 475,000, down from the regular price of Rp 630,000.
Direct Trains to Semarang: A Holiday Success
Earlier this month, KAI launched direct train services between Jakarta and Semarang on December 9th and 10th. This initiative proved incredibly popular, with the Minister of State-Owned Enterprises predicting that a total of 3.5 million people would travel by train during the holiday season.
Inspired by the efficiency of direct flights, KAI’s Vice President of Non-Transport Commercialization, Krisna Arianto, explained that the direct train service aims to provide a seamless travel experience from Jakarta to Semarang without any stops.
During the december 9th and 10th service, KAI offered a generous 50% discount on tickets. Executive class tickets between Gambir and Semarang, and vice versa, were priced at just Rp 200,000, down from the usual Rp 400,000.
