‘Dirty Dancing’ Sequel gains Momentum with Production Timeline
Lionsgate’s planned sequel to the 1987 film Dirty Dancing is moving forward with a target production start date later this year, the studio announced Tuesday.
Producers Nina Jacobson adn brad Simpson will oversee the feature project. Kim rosenstock, known for her work on Dying for Sex, is writing the screenplay, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Jennifer Grey will executive produce and reprise her role as Frances “Baby” Houseman. She first played the character in the original film, which also starred the late Patrick Swayze. Jonathan Levine, previously attached as director, will now serve as an executive producer.
Jacobson and Simpson’s production company, Color Force, is also currently producing The Hunger games: Sunrise on the Reaping for Lionsgate, scheduled for release later this year.
