Disabled people attended the Labor and Sports Inclusion Fair organized by Comfacauca – La Campana Newspaper
Several public and private entities have worked in partnership with the Fund to support people with different abilities.
On 30 August this year, a sunny day, with nice winds, in that excellent location as Comfacauca Olympic Village, Unit 2, the first sports and labor inclusion Fair was held, organized by the Public Employment Service of the Compensation Fund, in collaboration with public entities and private that contributes to the development of projects for the benefit of the population with disabilities.
As well as promoting the social inclusion, sport and labor of people with disabilities, improving their quality of life by supporting entrepreneurship. Likewise, various activities were developed, such as presenting shawms from the foundations of Cenidi, Fusmer, Guerreros de Luz and Fedar; Unicomfacauca dances, with the group ‘Latinos y antawara’; sports dance, by Indeportes and micro business and gastronomy exhibitions.
In the same way, and very important, it was resume registration of people with disabilities, as well as career guidance.
In the same way, the organization Talentos Unidos Popayán, the National Army, HUB Digital Diversity, which helps disabled people in the field of technology, participated; Autonomous University of Colombia, Bios, E-motiva, Las Huacas Educational Institute, Tout brand and Jeny Aba.
Comfacauca recorded the resumes of people with disabilities, as well as job orientation.“This is a fair that supports disabilities in Cauca, we have partnered with entities and companies, because together we can provide more services to this population,” said María Eugenia Bastidas, coordinator of the Comfacauca Public Employment Service.
As well as receiving official information, visitors had the opportunity to buy unique, handmade products such as cloth bags, handicrafts, key chains, kitchen utensils made from recycled materials, homemade cakes, ice cream , dairy products, foods made from cocoa, comic. -such as paintings and leather accessories, all products of enterprises run by disabled people.
The Government of Cauca donated wheelchairs, delivered by the social manager, María Victoria Guzmán Vargas.Cristian Laso, research professor of the sports training program at the Autonomous University of Colombia and founding member of the Club Talentos Unidos de Popayán, highlighted the importance of this day: “These types of events are a great alternative that makes the population group this is visible. Furthermore, these spaces help to overcome those derogatory views that society produces.”
The club, which works at a social and community level, offers sports such as powerlifting, badminton, swimming and athletics, which focus on people with visual, physical, cerebral palsy and intellectual disabilities.
Leidy Vanesa Molina, director of the Samuel Mera (Fusmer) Foundation and Mujer Cafam 2024, said in recognition of this fair: “I applaud the places that Comfacauca provides; It is worth highlighting the work being done at departmental level. My message to the communities is that we look at people with disabilities with opportunities and empathy, let us continue to look for these opportunities to make the different talents of these people visible.”
The coordinator of the Comfacauca Public Employment Service, María Eugenia Bastidas, accompanies products from enterprises run by disabled people.The Fair marked an important step in the inclusion and visibility of people with disabilities in Cauca, reaffirming the commitment of Comfacauca and related entities to create spaces that promote equality and accessibility in all its forms.
Chirimías were presented from the foundations of Cenidi, Fusmer, Guerreros de Luz and Fedar.According to the coordinator of the Comfacauca Public Employment Service, one of the entities that has an important role in this social process is the Secretary of Health of the Municipality of Popayán, who is the one who must certify people’s disability, in order to do so. in order to facilitate their inclusion in working life.
