Aileen Donohue’s New Christmas Album: It Feels Like Christmas
Aileen Donohue, a singer from Rosslare, is releasing her second Christmas album titled It Feels Like Christmas on December 1. Recording began in January, right after the Christmas season.
Aileen explains, “We were touring Scotland and decided to produce the album in January. We thought we could finish in a week, but needed more time for adjustments. We went to France for recording in the summer.”
The 13-track album includes traditional songs like Wexford Carol, O Holy Night, and Auld Lang Syne, along with two original songs. Parts of the album were recorded in London, Wexford, and a historic church in western France.
Aileen describes a memorable moment: “While visiting a 13th-century church in France, I sang O Holy Night. We got permission to record there and chose to do Wexford Carol, O Holy Night, and Auld Lang Syne in that beautiful space.”
The album will officially launch at the Wexford County Council buildings in Carricklawn on December 5 at 1 p.m. It will be available to stream and purchase as a CD for €15 from her website and various local outlets.
Aileen will also sell the album at her Christmas shows in south Wexford this December. One concert will take place in Our Lady’s Island Church, a venue with special significance for her, as she and her husband were married there. She will perform with the Lagoon Junior Choir, and Robert Scott, the album’s producer, will accompany her on stage.
Aileen hopes her album will become part of family Christmas traditions in Wexford. She fondly recalls her childhood, enjoying holiday preparations with her mother, who often played Nat King Cole. “I believe It Feels Like Christmas is perfect for Christmas Eve, as families wrap up their holiday tasks.”
