Riverbank Arts Centre Presents “By the Bog of Cats”
“By the Bog of Cats,” a play by Marina Carr, is the latest production from the Newbridge Drama Group. Set in the Irish midlands, this story draws inspiration from the Greek myth of Medea and weaves in elements of mysticism and the supernatural.
The central character, Hester Swane, faces deep emotional turmoil. Abandoned by her mother in childhood, Hester deals with the lasting impact of this loss on her life and relationships. Her partner, Carthage Kilbride, chooses to leave her and their child to pursue his ambitions.
Directed by Mary Linehan, the play stars Martina Smith and Keith Walsh in the leading roles. The production promises a captivating experience, featuring rich drama, memorable characters, and live music. Local musician Mairead Carroll has composed the musical score and will perform it live during the show.
The play will run at the Riverbank Arts Centre from November 20 to 23. For more details or to book tickets, visit www.riverbank.ie. Don’t miss this opportunity to experience a powerful tale of love, loss, and resilience.
