Apple released iOS 18.1 in October, following the initial iOS 18 launch. This update introduced bug fixes and features that enable users to record phone calls and read call transcripts. Writing Tools in Apple Intelligence

Devices with Apple Intelligence get a new keyboard menu called Writing Tools. To access it, highlight text and tap “Writing Tools” in the menu above. Alternatively, tap the pink and blue atom icon.

Within Writing Tools, users have options for:

• Proofread: This checks for grammatical issues. If there are no errors, it will state “No recommended changes.”
• Rewrite: This alters the text, offering different wording or detail. Users can view the original text or keep tapping “Rewrite” for new suggestions, although changes may vary based on the length of the text.

Users can select different tones for their writing: Friendly, Professional, or Concise. For example, choosing “Friendly” makes the text informal, while “Professional” suits workplace communication. However, content that includes inappropriate language may trigger a warning. Users can still choose to proceed by tapping “Continue.”

If the new text is preferable, tap “Done” to save changes. Otherwise, tap “Revert” to return to the original text.

Editing Longer Texts

To edit longer messages, highlight the text and use the Proofread and Rewrite options that appear in the keyboard menu. These functions work similarly to those in Writing Tools. After edits, users can choose “Done” to accept changes or “Revert” to keep the original message. Always reread the revised text, as AI-generated changes may not fit the context accurately.
