Discover John Behan’s ‘Birds in Flight’ at Cork Auction – November 23
John Behan’s bronze sculpture, “Birds in Flight,” will be featured in an online auction at Woodward Auctioneers in Cork on Saturday, November 23. Behan is a renowned contemporary sculptor. A new film, “Odyssey,” directed by Donald Taylor-Black, focuses on his work with migrant camps in Greece.
Behan, now in his mid-80s, has a strong commitment to social justice and has taught art workshops to migrants and refugees in Athens. The estimated value of “Birds in Flight” is €8,000-€12,000.
The auction starts at 10 AM and will include around 150 lots, showcasing various silver items, including pieces from Cork. Notable items include:

– A 1974 sauceboat by the same makers (€400-€800)
– A c1790 cream jug by Samuel Green, Cork (€700-€900)

– A watercolour of the old Cork Opera House by Neil Kelleher, with proceeds going towards creating a wisteria tunnel at Curraghbeg Nurseries, Ovens.
