Discover the Charm of Zhanjiang: A City of Delicious Food, Scenic Views, and Rich Culture
From September 22 to 25, the “Foreign Eyes See Zhanjiang and Like It” exchange event was held in Zhanjiang, hosted by China Daily Online and the Information Office of the Zhanjiang Municipal People’s Government. The event brought together foreign media reporters, foreign Internet celebrities, foreign experts, and other members of the China Story Co-creation Association to experience the city’s food, scenery, ecology, culture, and more.
During the four-day event, the tour group had a rich itinerary, exploring the city’s hidden gems. They visited the Leizhou City Museum to experience the production skills of Leizhou kiln ceramics and Leizhou stone dogs. They also walked into the Huguangyan Scenic Area of Leizhou World Geopark to explore the natural wonders of volcanoes and lakes.
The tour group also “checked in” at the ancient commercial port of Chikan Old Street to learn about the historical protection, revitalization, and utilization of Zhanjiang Ancient Street. They experienced the cooking skills of the “four treasures” of the table, such as Zhanjiang oysters, Zhanjiang chickens, Zhanjiang golden pomfret, and Zhanjiang prawns. Additionally, they visited Leizhou Bay to encounter the “national treasure of the sea” Chinese white dolphin and explored the deep-sea breeding platform “Hengyi No. 1” and the giant “donut” and other marine ranches.
Other highlights of the tour included visits to the Jinsha Bay Coastal Tourism and Leisure Demonstration Zone, Maodegong Drum City, Suixi County Awakening Lion Cultural Museum, and Minghuang Tea Ecological Culture Grand View Garden. These experiences allowed the tour group to feel the charm of “Fresh Zhanjiang” more deeply and share the city’s story with the world.
