Sources indicate that the scale of ​reductions within ⁢Disney Entertainment’s ⁣film and‌ TV departments is substantial. The​ majority of affected ⁢Disney ‍Entertainment Television staff are reportedly based in Los Angeles.

These layoffs represent the fourth and largest round⁢ in the past ten months, impacting various Disney ​television operations. The⁤ company is restructuring to ⁢prioritize streaming services amid⁢ ongoing economic challenges. These entertainment layoffs are part ‌of ​a broader effort to streamline ⁢operations and reduce costs.

Since ⁤returning as CEO, Bob‍ Iger has set a⁣ goal to cut costs by⁢ at ‍least‌ $7.5 ‌billion, ‍starting in 2023. ‌This⁣ initiative includes​ the elimination of approximately 7,000 jobs ‍throughout the company.

Earlier this year,nearly 200 ⁢Disney employees were laid off,representing almost 6% of⁣ the workforce in the ABC News Group and Disney’s⁢ Entertainment Networks,wich⁢ include Freeform and FX.

A⁢ significant restructuring occurred in October,involving the‌ shutdown of ABC‍ Signature,with its ‌operations integrated into 20th television. Additionally, ABC and hulu Originals scripted⁣ drama ‍and comedy teams ⁤were‌ consolidated, resulting⁤ in about​ 30 Disney Entertainment Television layoffs.
