Disney World is adjusting its water park schedule this spring, with Blizzard Beach set to reopen on February 15, 2026, while Typhoon Lagoon will close for refurbishment on the same day. This alternating closure pattern is a long-standing practice for Disney World, ensuring at least one water park remains operational year-round.

The reopening of Blizzard Beach marks the end of its seasonal maintenance period. Guests planning visits between mid-February and May should be aware that Blizzard Beach will be the sole water park option at Walt Disney World during this time. This is particularly relevant for families and those traveling during spring break, who should check the official operating calendar in advance to confirm availability.

Disney’s strategy of rotating refurbishments between Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon is designed to maintain continuous water park access for visitors. However, recent unpredictable weather in Central Florida has already caused sporadic closures of Typhoon Lagoon, highlighting the potential for unforeseen disruptions even during traditionally open seasons.

Looking ahead to summer, Disney plans to operate both water parks concurrently. Typhoon Lagoon is scheduled to reopen on May 12, 2026, allowing guests to enjoy the full range of aquatic attractions at Walt Disney World. This return to simultaneous operation represents a shift back to pre-pandemic practices, with both parks open for the peak summer season. Disney reintroduced this operational model last year, after a period of alternating schedules implemented during the pandemic.

Alongside the reopening schedule, Disney is also offering a seasonal pass for Blizzard Beach. Available for purchase until May 9, 2026, the pass provides unlimited access to Blizzard Beach for adults at $89 and children aged 3-9 at $83. However, passholders should note block-out dates from March 28, 2026, through April 5, 2026.

The Disney Water Park Seasonal Pass also includes additional perks. Passholders receive 20% off cabana rentals at Blizzard Beach, available on a walk-up basis. The pass grants access to one round of golf at either Winter Summerland Miniature Golf or Fantasia Gardens and Fairways Miniature Golf, provided it’s played before 4:00 PM.

For guests staying at a Disney Resorts Collection hotel between May 26, 2026, and September 8, 2026, complimentary admission to one of the Walt Disney World water parks is included on their check-in day. This perk aims to offset rising costs associated with a Disney World vacation.

Disney emphasizes that Blizzard Beach offers attractions for all ages, including a dedicated area for younger children, Tike’s Peak, themed around the movie Frozen. The park features a variety of slides and attractions, catering to both thrill-seekers and those looking for a more relaxed experience.
