Disney Animation will debut three musical sequences from recent Walt Disney Animation Studios features, reimagined and animated in American Sign Language (ASL), on Disney+ on April 27, 2026.
The release, titled “Songs in Sign Language,” features animated musical numbers from Frozen 2, Encanto, and Moana 2, newly adapted for the deaf and hard-of-hearing community in celebration of National Deaf History Month.
According to The Walt Disney Company’s official announcement, the segments were directed by veteran Disney animators and produced in collaboration with ASL consultants and performers to ensure linguistic and cultural accuracy.
The initiative follows Disney’s ongoing efforts to increase accessibility across its streaming platform, building on previous ASL interpretations of theme park shows and select film releases.
Animation Magazine reported that the project involved re-animating key song sequences frame-by-frame to integrate ASL performance while preserving the original musical timing and visual storytelling of each number.
The April 27 debut date aligns with the final week of National Deaf History Month, which is observed annually from March 13 to April 15 in the United States, extending into late April for related commemorative programming.
Disney+ subscribers will be able to access “Songs in Sign Language” through the platform’s accessibility hub, where it will be featured alongside other inclusive content such as audio-described titles and closed-captioned programming.
No additional details regarding future expansions of the series or plans for broader theatrical or educational distribution have been announced as of April 21, 2026.
