The six-second video app Vine is making a comeback. Divine, a new platform backed by Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey, launched on April 29, 2026, offering users access to an archive of roughly 500,000 classic Vine videos and the ability to create new content. The app is available for download on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.

Reviving a Short-Form Video Legacy

Divine aims to recapture the spirit of Vine, the popular short-form video platform that ran from 2013 to 2017. According to a press release, the app was created with a vision to restore creative power to users and differentiate itself from other social media platforms by banning AI-generated content. The project is funded by “and Other Stuff,” a nonprofit established by Dorsey in May 2025 to support experimental open-source projects.

The revival of Vine’s video archive was a complex undertaking. Much of the original content had been preserved by the Archive Team, a community archiving project, in large 40-50 GB binary files. Evan Henshaw-Plath, known online as “Rabble” and an early Twitter employee, led the effort to reconstruct the files and associated user engagement data, such as views, likes, and comments. While not all data could be fully restored, the app launched with approximately 500,000 videos from nearly 100,000 original Vine creators.

Creator Response and Development

The launch of Divine has already garnered attention from original Vine creators, including Lele Pons, JimmyHere, MightyDuck, and Jack and Jack. According to Rabble, early Viners encouraged the team to refine the app and prioritize filtering out AI-generated content. This feedback led to revisions in the app’s code and design before its public release.

Vine app rebooted as 'Divine'

Divine includes a “compilation mode” feature, allowing users to create and share curated lists of videos based on hashtags. For example, visiting the hashtag #cats will automatically play related Vine videos, with options to like, report, or continue watching.

A Commitment to Authenticity and a Unique Content Policy

A key differentiator for Divine is its commitment to excluding AI-generated content. The app requires users to either record videos directly within the platform or verify the origin and editing history of uploaded videos using C2PA, an open industry standard for digital content provenance. This aims to provide a more authentic and human-focused social media experience.

A Public Benefit Model

Divine operates as a “public benefit company” and currently does not have a traditional revenue model. Rabble envisions potential avenues for creators to monetize their content through brand deals, collaborations, or subscription-based features like Patreon-style support or a “Pro” account with additional benefits.

The app is initially rolling out access to users on a waitlist, with broader availability planned through invite codes. Divine is available for download from the App Store, Google Play Store, and the Nostr-powered Zapstore, and is offered free of cost.
