Divorce Release Deluxe ‘Drive To Goldenhammer’ Single ‘Wendolene
Divorce Doubles Down on Debut with Deluxe ‘Drive to Goldenhammer’
for Immediate Release
[City, State] - Just months after captivating audiences with their debut album, Drive to Goldenhammer, indie darlings Divorce have surprised fans with a deluxe edition, expanding on their sonic world and offering a deeper glimpse into the band’s creative process. The expanded album, available now, features three brand-new tracks – “Wendolene,” “Chip,” and “O Calamity” - alongside early demos and BBC Radio sessions, including a spirited live cover of Queen’s iconic anthem,”I Want To Break Free.”
Drive to Goldenhammer, originally released on March 7th via Gravity/Capitol, was lauded for its emotive songwriting and unique blend of indie rock sensibilities. Recorded at the prestigious Real World Studios in Wiltshire with the acclaimed Catherine Marks (known for her work with Boygenius, Foals, and Wolf Alice), the album established Divorce as a force to be reckoned with in the indie music scene.
“On our debut album Drive to Goldenhammer, we sought to build a makeshift place and home within the songs and each other amidst the transience of our lives on the road over the last few years,” explains singer and guitarist Felix mackenzie-Barrow. “With the Drive to Goldenhammer Deluxe Edition, along with live versions of some of the album tracks, you’ll hear unreleased songs and demo recordings that landed somewhere on the outskirts of Goldenhammer, like O Calamity and Chip or Pretty Lights and Tiny Animals.”
The deluxe edition’s led single, “Wendolene,” offers a tantalizing taste of what’s to come from Divorce. The band describes the track as capturing them “beginning the journey onwards, towards wherever it is we feel we want to go.”
Mackenzie-Barrow elaborates,”‘Wendolene’ hints at what lies beyond Drive to Goldenhammer, bridging a gap toward our next chapter. And whilst we tried to maintain the surrealism of the record, this edges into something darker than most of our debut record.” He also cheekily admits to the band’s shared obsession with Wallace and Gromit, revealing that the song’s title is a direct homage to A Close Shave, with a further, more subtle reference hidden within the track.
The release of the Drive to Goldenhammer Deluxe Edition solidifies Divorce’s position as one of the most exciting and innovative bands to emerge in recent years. With their captivating sound, introspective lyrics, and undeniable chemistry, Divorce continues to push boundaries and connect with audiences on a deeply personal level.About divorce:
