Novak Djokovic secured his 100th career victory at the French Open, joining rafael Nadal as the only men to reach this milestone. Djokovic defeated Cameron Norrie in straight sets, 6-2, 6-3, 6-2, on Monday to advance to the quarterfinals.
The Serbian tennis star has not dropped a set at Roland Garros this year as he pursues his 25th Grand Slam title. Djokovic’s strong performance comes after winning his 100th title at the Geneva Open just before the Paris tournament.
Norrie acknowledged Djokovic’s superior play. “He was solid today, and he didn’t give me anything,” Norrie said, praising Djokovic’s defense, serve, and returns.
Djokovic is set to face Alexander Zverev in a quarterfinal match on Wednesday. Zverev advanced after Tallon Griekspoor retired due to an abdominal strain.
“I feel good. Every day, I have more expectations about my game, [and with] 12 sets played, 12 sets won, everything is solid and positive,” Djokovic said.
Zverev recognizes the challenge ahead. “He definately knows how to play tennis. He definitely knows what it means to be on the big stage and to play big matches,” Zverev said about Djokovic.
