The Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) dental programs are set to expand thanks to a $250,000 commitment from the Delta Dental of Iowa Foundation. The funds will support a new 26,000-square-foot facility on DMACC’s Ankeny campus, replacing the current 8,000-square-foot space. Groundbreaking is planned for this fall.
The new facility will feature state-of-the-art simulation labs, classrooms, a student lounge, and advanced sterilization and radiology suites. A key component will be a public dental clinic, designed to provide care for patients from across Central Iowa, enhancing access to dental services.
The expansion aims to increase enrollment capacity for the dental hygiene program by 25%. DMACC intends to maintain its commitment to small class sizes and favorable student-to-instructor ratios, ensuring personalized attention for students.
