Doble Homicidio en Comodoro: Se Revela la Identidad de la Joven Asesinada y el Antecedente Criminal de Rodrigo Nieves

The woman killed alongside Rodrigo Nieves in the double shooting in Comodoro Rivadavia has been identified as Agustina Asencio, according to ADNSUR reporting confirmed by judicial sources.

The double homicide occurred around 3:00 a.m. On Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at the intersection of La Prensa and Combate Vuelta de Obligado in the southern part of the city. Police found a Peugeot vehicle with two occupants who had been shot multiple times, with at least ten bullet impacts recorded on the vehicle.

Rodrigo César Pedro Nieves, approximately 25 years old, died at the scene. Agustina Asencio was rushed to the local hospital but died minutes after arrival. Both victims were inside the vehicle when it was attacked.

Investigators confirmed that Nieves was scheduled to testify on Thursday, April 23, 2026, in a homicide trial related to the killing of his relative, Matías Nieves, which occurred on January 24, 2025, in the Jorge Newbery neighborhood. His role as a key witness in that case has led prosecutors to consider the possibility that the attack was an act of retaliation or an attempt to prevent his testimony.

Judicial sources told Canal 12 Web and La Opinión Austral that Nieves had been set to declare in the proceedings concerning Matías Nieves’ murder. The Prosecutor’s Office confirmed the connection but stated that further details would be released as the investigation progresses.

The Unidad Regional chief, Commissioner Lucas Cocha, confirmed that the vehicle showed clear signs of a targeted attack and that investigators are reviewing surveillance footage and seeking witnesses. Forensic and investigative units processed the scene under the supervision of Fiscal Adrián Cabral.

As of this morning, authorities had not released additional information about Agustina Asencio’s background or possible connections to the case. Investigators continue to examine whether the double homicide is linked to Nieves’ judicial involvement or represents a separate criminal act.
