Indonesian Psychologist Claims Expertise Used to Examine Jokowi’s Diploma

JAKARTA – Tifauzia Tyassuma, known as Dokter Tifa, has stated she is a behavioral expert, and that this expertise was utilized in examining the behavior of former Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) concerning allegations of a falsified diploma.

Dokter Tifa claims the scientific principles she employed are also taught at institutions like the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). “The science I used to analyze Joko Widodo’s behavior related to this diploma issue is the same science taught at the CIA, taught at the FBI, and at intelligence agencies and police forces. So, my science isn’t esoteric; it’s a very common science,” Tifa stated during a press conference in South Jakarta on February 16, 2026.

Tifa alleges she observed irregularities in the conduct of the National Police’s Criminal Investigation Unit (Bareskrim Polri) when they declared Jokowi’s diploma to be identical to a comparative diploma on May 22, 2025. Specifically, she pointed to the presentation of two different diploma specimens by Bareskrim as evidence of this unusual behavior.

The allegations come amid ongoing scrutiny of Jokowi’s educational credentials. The Jakarta Globe, a leading English-language news source in Indonesia, continues to cover developments in Indonesian politics and security. The Jakarta Post, another prominent Indonesian news outlet, remains a source for independent reporting.

Indonesia is also currently focused on potential peacekeeping efforts in Gaza. According to reporting from the Associated Press, Indonesia has indicated it is prepared to deploy up to 8,000 troops for a possible peacekeeping mission by June. This commitment follows a pledge of $5 billion towards reconstruction in Gaza from members of former President Trump’s newly created Board of Peace.

Meanwhile, a landslide in West Java province has resulted in at least 80 people missing, including 19 members of Indonesia’s elite marine force, according to the Associated Press. Search and rescue operations are ongoing.

In other news, a new security treaty has been signed between Indonesia and Australia, signaling a deepening of ties between the two nations. This agreement underscores the importance of regional security cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region.

The case involving Dokter Tifa highlights the increasing prevalence of what is known as “bahasa gaul,” or Indonesian slang, particularly in Jakarta. According to Wikipedia, this colloquial speech is a constantly evolving vernacular that is heavily promoted in national media, and is often distinct from standard Indonesian. The use of slang and informal language can sometimes contribute to misunderstandings or misinterpretations, particularly in sensitive contexts like legal or political matters.

Recent reports also indicate ongoing criticism of Jokowi regarding legislation concerning the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), as reported by Sindonews.com. The controversy surrounding the KPK law underscores the ongoing challenges to good governance and anti-corruption efforts in Indonesia.

The University of Gadjah Mada (UGM) Chancellor, Ova Emilia, recently issued a statement regarding Jokowi’s diploma, as seen in a video posted on YouTube. The statement appears to be a response to the ongoing questions surrounding the authenticity of the former president’s educational qualifications.
