The Los Angeles Dodgers will start Tarik Skubal against the Milwaukee Brewers and staff ace Jacob Misiorowski on Sunday for Game 1 of the National League Championship Series at American Family Field, according to AP reporting.
Skubal and Yamamoto Take the Mound for Los Angeles
Skubal enters Game 1 after starting the opening game of the NL Division Series against the Atlanta Braves. The left-hander pitched six dominant innings in that outing, allowing one run and two hits while striking out seven and walking two in a 5-3 victory. Yamamoto earned the ball for Game 3 of the NLDS, striking out 10 batters over seven innings while surrendering one run and four hits with one walk. Yamamoto also holds the title of last year’s World Series MVP.
The Dodgers’ rotation planning follows a shaky outing from Blake Snell in Game 2 against the Braves. Snell struggled during his start as Atlanta secured a 3-2 win to tie that best-of-five series before Los Angeles eventually eliminated them 3-1.
Misiorowski Brings Dominant Numbers for Milwaukee
Milwaukee counters with Misiorowski, who posted formidable numbers against Los Angeles during regular-season action and postseason play. Across two regular-season starts and a relief appearance in last year’s NLCS against the Dodgers, Misiorowski has logged 17 innings with a 1.59 ERA, striking out 27 batters and walking three.
The Brewers’ reliance on their staff ace matches up against an opposing pitching staff featuring multiple Cy Young honors. Skubal is a two-time Cy Young Award winner, as is Snell, though Snell’s recent playoff struggles left room for adjustment in the Dodgers’ pitching plans. Milwaukee’s pitching architecture relies on keeping Misiorowski sharp against a high-powered Los Angeles lineup.

Rojas Tests Back and Status Remains Uncertain
Utility player Miguel Rojas faces an uncertain status for the NLCS roster as he deals with lower back pain. Rojas exited Game 3 against the Braves during an at-bat after experiencing discomfort. Medical imaging mostly revealed prior back issues rather than new structural damage.
Rojas, 37, has previously indicated he is leaning toward retirement at the end of the season.
Today was encouraging. We still have a flight to get on and see how he comes in tomorrow for the workout there, so there’s nothing definitive.
