Updated June 22, 2025
Dolores Catania, a star on “The Real Housewives of New Jersey,” believes her recent health challenges, including a heart condition and subsequent weight gain, may be connected to the COVID vaccine. Catania discussed her experience on SiriusXM’s Jeff Lewis Live.
Catania, 54, revealed she regained the 20 pounds she initially lost using medications like Mounjaro and Ozempic. This occurred after she underwent a cardiac ablation to address an unexpected heart issue. ”I had something new that a lot of people are getting now at a young age,” Catania said, suggesting a possible link to the vaccine. When Lewis directly asked if she was referring to the COVID vaccine, Catania confirmed, “Well, yeah.”
She elaborated that doctors were hesitant to definitively link the vaccine to her condition but acknowledged there was no apparent reason for her to develop the heart problem. Catania described experiencing heart palpitations that led to the cardiac ablation.
The reality star also mentioned that she is now required to take blood thinners for 90 days following the procedure, which she suspects may also be contributing to her weight gain. Catania admitted to struggling with her changing body and has started therapy to help her cope.
Catania has been open about using medications like Ozempic and Mounjaro for weight loss, emphasizing that she consulted with numerous doctors and conducted thorough research before using them. She also noted that menopause, a thyroid issue, and inflammation contribute to her difficulty in managing her weight.
