Dublin City University (DCU) has announced the appointment of Cathal Marley, a distinguished alumnus and experienced leader, as its new Chancellor. Marley, who has served on the DCU Audit Committee since December 2016 and currently chairs Swim ireland, officially took up his new role following the first meeting of DCU’s new Governing Authority.

DCU President Professor Dáire Keogh expressed his enthusiasm for Marley’s appointment, highlighting the invaluable insight, energy, and experience he brings to the university’s leadership.”As a graduate, he understands the unique character, contribution, and responsibilities of DCU to Irish society,” Professor Keogh stated. He further commended Marley’s “distinguished record of leadership, governance, and service,” particularly noting his “commitment to lasting and renewable energy at a pivotal time for the country.”
Professor Keogh concluded, “I am delighted to welcome Cathal as Chancellor as we drive our mission to transform lives and societies. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank cathal’s predecessor, Brid Horan, for her outstanding commitment as Chancellor over the last four years.”
The Chancellor’s Role and Responsibilities
