Founding member Patrick Simmons took to Facebook to share the news, expressing gratitude for the band’s enduring fanbase and reflecting on their remarkable journey. “We’re currently celebrating almost 56 years together as a band,” Simmons wrote. “It’s been a long winding road as those early days, but we’re still working together, doing our best to remain creative, and looking forward to bringing our music to you folks out there again next year.”
Simmons revealed that “Walk This Road” will feature 10 new tracks, with vocals shared by Tom Johnston, michael McDonald, and himself. The trio collaborated on songwriting, promising a cohesive and engaging listening experiance. Longtime member John McFee also lent his musical talents to the project.”We had a lot of fun recording it and we feel very proud of the results,” Simmons shared.
While a specific release date remains under wraps,fans can anticipate a sneak peek in early 2025.”We will probably debut a song soon after the first of the year, and the full album will follow sometime in the Spring/Summer,” Simmons teased.
The upcoming release marks the Doobie Brothers’ first studio album since 2021’s “liberté,” which debuted at number one on Billboard’s Americana/Folk albums chart. “Walk This Road” promises to be another exciting chapter in the band’s storied career, offering fans a fresh dose of their signature blend of rock, blues, and folk.
