Borussia Dortmund Welcomes Jobe bellingham to Bolster Midfield

Borussia Dortmund has successfully acquired midfielder Jobe Bellingham from Sunderland for a reported £32 million. The move sees Bellingham, 19, following in the footsteps of his brother, Jude, who previously starred for Dortmund. While Eintracht Frankfurt and RB Leipzig also showed interest, Dortmund secured the promising young talent.
Sunderland had initially set a £33.7 million release clause, but agreed to a lower fee, accepting Dortmund’s offer of £27.8 million plus £4.2 million in potential add-ons.The Black Cats also negotiated a 15% sell-on clause for any future transfer involving Bellingham.

Kristjaan Speakman, Sunderland’s sporting director, praised Bellingham’s dedication and growth during his time at the club. He noted Bellingham’s “unrelenting commitment to improvement” and expressed pride in his contributions on and off the field.
“Jobe wanted to create his own story, be part of a new Sunderland, and make a lasting impact. He achieved all of this,and although we are naturally disappointed to lose a player of Jobe’s quality,everyone at SAFC wishes him well in this next stage of his journey,” Speakman said.
Bellingham expressed his gratitude to Sunderland fans for their unwavering support. He acknowledged their role in his progress and vowed to represent Wearside throughout his career.
“It’s time for me to say farewell to all the loyal people of Sunderland, who have powered me through two incredible years in red and white,” Bellingham said. “Your support, on so many occasions, has entirely blown me away, especially in the times of adversity, wich we pulled through together.”
Looking ahead, Bellingham conveyed his enthusiasm for joining Borussia Dortmund and his eagerness to compete for titles. He also expressed his excitement about participating in the FIFA Club World Cup with his new team.
“I’m very happy to be a Borussia Dortmund player now and to fight for titles together with this great club,” Bellingham told Dortmund’s website.
Before his stint at Sunderland, Bellingham began his professional career at Birmingham, debuting in August 2021. He than moved to Sunderland in 2023, scoring 11 goals in 90 appearances and contributing to their promotion to the Premier League in May 2025.

Jobe Bellingham is expected to quickly integrate into Borussia Dortmund’s squad, aiming to make an immediate impact in the Bundesliga and contribute to the team’s aspirations in both domestic and international competitions.
