Ontario to Expand Flu Vaccinations to All Residents⁤ by End of ‌October

Ontario health officials have announced plans to begin administering flu vaccines to vulnerable populations in the coming weeks, with all residents eligible for the shot by the end of October.

The Ministry of Health has confirmed that it is safe and convenient to⁣ administer the COVID-19 vaccine and the flu vaccine together. New COVID-19 vaccines are expected to arrive in Ontario in early October.

Priority Groups for Flu Vaccination

Flu shots are expected to begin soon for nursing home residents and staff,​ people in hospitals, and hospital staff. Vaccination will later expand to⁢ nursing homes, other congregate living facilities, and seniors 65 and older.

All other residents will ‍be able to get vaccinated free of ⁤charge ​at primary care ​clinics, some pharmacies, and public ​health‍ facilities starting October ⁤28, 2024.

RSV Antivirus Program

Additionally, RSV antivirus will also be provided free⁤ of charge in October. Targets include infants, high-risk children ​up to 24 months, and residents⁢ of nursing homes and retirement homes.
