Double Threat: How Al-Nasr Lured Adrien Rabiot with a Two-Pronged Attack
Al-Nasr Pursues Rabiot Deal Despite Transfer Window Closure
The summer transfer window may have closed for Saudi Roshan League clubs on September 2, but Al-Nasr management remains hopeful of securing a deal for French midfielder Adrien Rabiot. As a free agent, Rabiot is not bound by the transfer window constraints, making him an attractive target for the Saudi Arabian club.
Lucrative Offer on the Table
According to Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport, Al-Nasr has extended a lucrative offer to Rabiot, with an annual salary of 20 million euros. The player’s mother, Véronique Rabiot, is reportedly leading the negotiations, with Portuguese captain Cristiano Ronaldo also playing a key role in convincing Rabiot to join Al-Nasr.
Ronaldo’s influence is significant, as he is pushing hard for his former Juventus teammate to join him in Saudi Arabia. The prospect of playing alongside Ronaldo may be a major draw for Rabiot, who has been searching for a new club since leaving Juventus.
No Impact on French National Team Place
One potential concern for Rabiot may be the impact of a move to the Saudi league on his place in the French national team. However, the example of N’Golo Kante, who plays for Al-Ittihad, suggests that Rabiot’s international career will not be affected. Kante has been called up to participate in the 2024 European Championship, demonstrating that players in the Saudi league can still be selected for international duty.
In contrast, if Rabiot were to join a European club, he would be ineligible to play in the first round of the European Championship, as the deadline for submitting the team list has already passed.
Rabiot’s Juventus Legacy
Rabiot spent five years with Juventus, during which he made 212 appearances in all competitions, scoring 22 goals and providing 15 assists for his teammates. His experience and skillset would be a valuable asset to Al-Nasr, and the club will be hoping to secure his signature in the coming days.
