The incident occurred at the Dover Area Ambulance Club station. According to the ambulance service, Brehm’s co-workers recognized the urgency of his condition and provided immediate medical care, which included moving him into an ambulance.
Paramedics from UPMC LifeTeam assisted in his care and transported Brehm to WellSpan York Hospital. He died while receiving treatment at the hospital.
Career and Service
Brehm had a extensive history of service within the Susquehanna Valley’s emergency services. He was a life member of Northeast Adams Fire & EMS, where he had served since his teenage years and previously held the role of deputy chief.
The Northeastern York County Emergency Management Agency identified Brehm as a longtime EMA coordinator who served in multiple roles within emergency services. His department noted that he served as a mentor to other EMTs in the region and spent significant time training others.
Community Tributes
On the night of April 9, 2026, multiple emergency departments gathered for a procession that traveled from York Hospital through York City to honor Brehm’s contributions to the community.
