Downtown San Jose Buzzing with Events This Week

Monday, February 9, 2026 – Downtown San Jose offers a diverse range of activities this week, from live music and trivia nights to a farmers’ market and thought-provoking discussions on artificial intelligence. The area continues to be a hub for community engagement and cultural experiences.

A standout event is “Sonic Runway,” a free installation at City Hall, running from November 1, 2021 to January 1, 2028. This long-running exhibit adds a unique artistic element to the downtown landscape.

For music lovers, San Pedro Square Market is hosting live music performances throughout the week. On Monday, February 9th, live music will be featured from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Trivia Mondays also take place at San Pedro Square Market, running from 7:30 pm to 9:00 pm.

The entertainment continues on Tuesday, February 10th, with Dr Funk providing live music at San Pedro Square Market from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Also on Tuesday, Three Sisters Whiskey Bar will host a Jeopardy Bar League event from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

On Wednesday, February 11th, the Downtown Farmers’ Market will be open from 9:00 am to 1:30 pm. Later that day, the Rotary Summit Center (operated by Scott’s Seafood) will host “Free AI Isn’t the Future — It’s Your Edge Right Now” from 6:00 pm to 8:30 pm, with admission ranging from free to $35. Live music will also be available at San Pedro Square Market from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm, and at Coastal Manor from 7:30 pm to 9:30 pm.

The San Jose Jazz Winter Series continues throughout the week, with events taking place all day on Thursday, February 12th. Also on Thursday, the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Library will host “Creative Minds: Pao Houa Her and Book Launch” from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Live music will again be featured at San Pedro Square Market from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm.

Downtown San Jose is described as a vibrant area with foodie spots, bold murals, local culture, dog parks, and play spots. The area encourages residents and visitors to explore and enjoy the numerous events that contribute to a buzzing community atmosphere.

Looking ahead, the Opera San José will present “Cavalleria Rusticana | Pagliacci” from February 15, 2026 to March 1, 2026 at the California Theatre. The Symphony San Jose will host the Symphonic World Cup on June 6, 2026 and June 7, 2026, also at the California Theatre. A Global Soccer Match between Jordan and Algeria is scheduled for June 22, 2026 at Levi’s Stadium. Disney’s “Newsies” will be performed at the Children’s Discovery Museum Montgomery Theater from July 10, 2026 to July 19, 2026, and “The Sound of Music” will grace the Broadway San Jose Center for the Performing Arts from July 21, 2026 to July 26, 2026.
