Kinshasa, DRC – approximately 45,000 doses of ⁤the Ebola vaccine are being ⁢deployed to Kasai province as UNICEF collaborates with the Congolese government and partner organizations to ⁢combat the latest Ebola outbreak in the democratic republic of the Congo (DRC).

The outbreak, declared⁣ on September 5, 2023, has already resulted in 47⁣ suspected ‍and confirmed cases, with a disproportionate impact⁣ on children. As of September 24, 2023, 14 of those cases⁢ are among children,⁣ and tragically, 12 ⁣children‍ are among the 25⁢ reported deaths. UNICEF reports the⁢ urgent need for⁢ vaccination to prevent further spread.

“Every dose delivered is ⁢one more step toward keeping children ⁤and families safe from this deadly disease,” said a UNICEF representative. “We are working ⁣tirelessly to ensure that⁣ the vaccine reaches those who need⁤ it most, especially children, who are particularly vulnerable.”
