Truck Hits Pole in Cidade Baixa, Leaving Two Injured
A truck accident in Cidade Baixa has left two people injured and caused a power outage in the area.

The accident occurred on the corner of Avenida Fernandes da Cunha and Comendador Bastos, leaving the driver and a young woman who was passing by injured. The pole went into the cab of the truck, causing the vehicle to catch fire and wires to spread across the road.
A firefighter at the scene reported that a private car driver and a street vendor helped control the fire using a fire extinguisher and buckets of water before the fire department arrived.
According to Neoenergia Coelba, the distributor’s teams are working to replace the damaged pole. The collision affected the area’s electrical grid, which has already been 99% restored with remote movements. However, power remains suspended in the affected region for security reasons.
Transalvador collaborated with the Military Police to organize traffic in the area. Initially, the place was closed for 40 minutes, and vehicles were redirected from Praça Irmã Dulce to Rua Barão de Cotegipe. Traffic was slow in the region, with congestion reaching Avenida Jequitaia, near Mercado do Peixe.
