The windsurfer, who was practicing for a competition in Geoje City, set sail from Jisepo Port but his sail broke due to strong winds, causing him to drift. A strong wind warning was in effect at the time.
After receiving a report from the group, the Coast Guard dispatched a coastal rescue boat and discovered the windsurfer, who was drifting on a board using a sail as an oar. He was safely rescued and brought to shore.
A Coast Guard official emphasized the importance of checking weather conditions before engaging in water leisure activities. “When the weather is bad, such as when a strong wind or wave advisory is issued, please refrain from engaging in activities,” the official urged.
