Draper & Pegula Oust Top Seeds, Storm Into US open Semifinals
New York, August 19, 2025 – In a stunning display of mixed doubles prowess, Jack Draper and Jessica pegula have surged into the US Open semifinals, defeating two highly-ranked teams on Tuesday. The top seeds first upset fan favorites Carlos Alcaraz and Emma Raducanu 4-2, 4-2, and then followed it up with a decisive 4-1, 4-1 victory over Mirra Andreeva and Daniil Medvedev.
“It feels great,” pegula said after the matches. ”We’re realy excited to be able to close it out. We played against really good players, got two wins today and this has been a lot of fun, so we’re excited to be here tomorrow.”
Draper and Pegula will now face third seeds Casper Ruud and Iga Swiatek,who also secured dominant victories earlier in the day.
The day also saw a surprise run from Danielle Collins and Christian Harrison.The American duo, late additions to the draw after Katerina siniakova and Jannik Sinner withdrew at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday,capitalized on their chance. They first defeated Belinda Bencic and Alexander Zverev 4-0,5-3,and then narrowly edged out fellow americans Ben Shelton and Taylor Townsend 4-1,5-4.
“We have a long history,” harrison said of his partner Collins. “I know her strengths and weaknesses. She’s a fantastic player.”
