DREAMS COME TRUE 35th Anniversary Urawan 2024/2025: A Unique Live Experience
“DREAMS COME TRUE 35th Anniversary Urawan 2024/2025” (commonly known as Urawan), kicked off with shows at Saitama Super Arena on September 22 (Sunday) and 23 (holiday Monday). The atmosphere in the venue just before the show started was like the calm before the storm.
Urawan is a large-scale dome tour held once every four years, and it’s the flip side of “DREAMS COME TRUE WONDERLAND 2023, the most powerful mobile amusement park in history”. While Wonderland features a setlist based on fan requests, Urawan showcases songs that Miwa Yoshida and Masato Nakamura really wanted to make and want their fans to hear.
The difference between Wonderland and Urawan is not just the setlist, but also the performance. Wonderland constantly updates the latest highlights of Japanese live entertainment, with numerous large-scale productions, including the 3D flight that has become synonymous with the show. Urawan, on the other hand, challenges the limits of physical expression with its songs, performances, dances, and more.
This time, Urawan was much more advanced than the previous three editions, with the addition of new elements. One of the highlights is the participation of four members of the female performing team D-FAIRIES, who will perform as main performers in collaboration with Miwa Yoshida. This gives the song a completely different tone and feel, allowing you to experience a dream come true that you have never heard or seen before.
The costumes by world-famous designer KEITAMARUYAMA also play an important role in this. Although the production does not appear flashy, it has grown in strength and depth as a complete art form. Miwa Yoshida and Masato Nakamura expressed their excitement about the tour, with Yoshida saying “Welcome everyone to the Urawan tour, which is our first in eight years!” and Nakamura adding “Also, this is a miraculous Urawan that coincides with the 35th anniversary!”
As I listened to the spectacle ring out like a victory bell, I knew there was no turning back. And the great flow of time continues to spiral as it reaches a new starting point. It’s a great feeling, like traveling on a spaceship. Miwa Yoshida sings and dances better than any Dream Comedy live I’ve ever seen, and the band’s groove was driven by a rhythm section featuring special guest drummers Akira Jimbo and Masato Nakamura.
Urawan is a live show that you can enjoy even before the live performance, and it’s a unique mood that sets it apart from other concerts. With its advanced production, new elements, and exceptional performances, Urawan is a must-see for any fan of DREAMS COME TRUE.
