Drew Starkey is known for his role as Rafe Cameron in the Netflix series Outer Banks. He revealed to Dazed Magazine that he shares similarities with Troy Bolton, a character from High School Musical. Starkey grew up playing basketball, influenced by his father, who coaches women’s basketball at Kent State University. Despite his love for basketball, Starkey pursued acting instead, attending Western Carolina University for English and theater performance.
Starkey described his passion for acting, saying that sometimes it feels like second nature to him. He believes that this feeling, when everything clicks, is addictive.
Starkey has gained popularity for his role in Outer Banks, which recently released its fourth season. He will next star alongside Daniel Craig in the film Queer, directed by Luca Guadagnino and based on a novel by William Burroughs. He commented on his character, focusing on his connection with Craig’s character, Lee, which reveals his true self.
