Driver Vanishes After Car Overturns in Holmsbu
HOLMSBU, Norway - A late-night car crash in Holmsbu left authorities searching for the driver after a vehicle was found overturned in a ditch.
The incident occurred around 10:55 p.m. on Saturday, prompting a response from emergency services.
“A car is reported to be on its roof in the ditch,” said Vidar Pedersen of the Southeast Police District.
Adding to the mystery, no one was found at the scene when first responders arrived. Police, aided by a helicopter, launched a search for the driver and any potential passengers.
“The police helicopter has completed its search without locating anyone in the area,” said Rune Hekkelstrand, operations leader for the Oslo Police District, just after midnight. “However, we have sufficient evidence and are continuing to work to identify those involved.”
While the extent of any potential injuries remains unkown, Hekkelstrand indicated that evidence inside the vehicle suggests the injuries may not be severe.
The initial alert came from a passerby who witnessed the crash and contacted emergency services.
