Ukrainian state news agency Ukrineform reported that three people were killed and 11 wounded in an airstrike by the Russian military on a port city on Ukraine’s southwestern border on the 27th local time.
Authorities in Odessa Province stated that an early morning drone attack killed three men and a woman in their 60s and 80s and damaged houses and vehicles in Izmail.
The Defense Ministry of Romania, a NATO member bordering Izmail, announced that “Russian drones may have briefly breached its airspace while attacking Ukraine.”
The Romanian Ministry of Defense explained that it had sent four fighter jets, including two F-16s, to monitor its airspace, and issued an evacuation order for residents of the Tulcea area near the Ukrainian border.
Defense ministers from NATO’s Eastern Front countries recently called on NATO to take a strong joint response to airspace violations by Russian drones, including the activation of air and missile defense systems.
Meanwhile, authorities in Ukraine’s Dnipropetrovsk region said the five-story police headquarters building in Kryvyrikh was hit by a missile that day, injuring at least four people and leaving some buried under the rubble.
