Houthi Rebels Claim Obligation for Drone and Missile Strike on USS Harry Truman
Washington D.C. - Tensions in the Red Sea escalated Wednesday as Houthi rebels claimed responsibility for a drone and missile attack on the USS Harry Truman, a U.S. Navy aircraft carrier.
Yahya Saree,a spokesperson for the Houthi military wing, announced the attack in a video statement, asserting that two cruise missiles and four drones targeted the carrier. Saree alleged the attack was a preemptive strike against an impending large-scale U.S. airstrike on Yemen.
“Our forces carried out a special operation targeting the U.S.aircraft carrier USS Harry Truman with two cruise missiles and four drones in the northern Red Sea, while american forces were preparing to launch a major air offensive against our country,” Saree stated.
He further claimed the houthi attack successfully thwarted the alleged U.S. airstrike.
This is not the first time the Houthi rebels have claimed to target the USS Harry Truman. In December 2024, they alleged a similar attack involving drones and cruise missiles, accusing the carrier of preparing for an airstrike on Yemen.
Saree also revealed that the Houthi group had conducted a series of attacks against Israeli targets in four separate military operations using missiles and combat drones. He detailed two of these operations, stating that one targeted a military site in Jaffa (Tel Aviv) with two drones, while another struck a significant target in ashkelon with a single drone. The U.S. Navy has yet to officially comment on the Houthi claims.
Houthi Rebels Claim Drone attack on Israeli Military Site
Yemen-based Houthi rebels say they launched a series of attacks targeting Israel, including a drone strike on a military site.
The group’s military spokesman,Yahya Saree, announced the attacks in a statement, claiming they successfully hit their targets. Saree said one operation involved a drone strike on a military site in either Jaffa or Tel Aviv, though he provided no further details. He also mentioned three other attacks, but did not elaborate on their nature or targets.
“All operations achieved their objectives,” Saree asserted in the statement.
While Saree didn’t specify the exact Israeli targets,he emphasized the Houthi’s commitment to supporting Palestinian resistance, notably in the ongoing conflict in the Gaza Strip.
“Our operations in support of Gaza will continue untill the aggression ends and the siege is lifted,” he declared.
Neither the United States nor Israel has yet responded to the Houthi’s claims.
Tiny Home, Big Dreams: Millennials Ditching Mortgages for Minimalist Living
Across the country, a new generation is redefining the American Dream, trading sprawling suburban homes for compact, eco-friendly dwellings.
Millennials, burdened by student loan debt and soaring housing costs, are increasingly turning to tiny homes as a viable option to traditional homeownership. These pint-sized abodes, typically under 400 square feet, offer a path to financial freedom and a simpler, more sustainable lifestyle.
“I was tired of throwing money away on rent,” says Sarah Miller,a 28-year-old graphic designer who recently moved into a custom-built tiny home in Portland,Oregon. “This allows me to live mortgage-free and focus on my passions, like traveling and starting my own business.”
Tiny homes come in a variety of styles, from rustic cabins to modern masterpieces, and can be built on wheels for ultimate mobility or permanently anchored on a foundation. Many feature innovative design elements, maximizing space with multi-functional furniture and clever storage solutions.
The minimalist lifestyle that often accompanies tiny home living is another major draw for millennials. By downsizing their possessions and embracing a more intentional way of life, they find freedom from consumerism and a deeper connection to their values.
“It’s amazing how much less I need,” says David Chen, a 32-year-old software engineer who lives in a tiny home community in Austin, Texas. “I used to spend so much time cleaning and maintaining a big house. Now I have more time for the things that truly matter.”
While tiny homes offer numerous benefits, they also present unique challenges. Zoning regulations can be restrictive, and finding suitable land can be tough. Financing options are also limited,as traditional mortgages are rarely available for tiny homes.
Despite these hurdles, the tiny home movement continues to gain momentum, fueled by a desire for affordability, sustainability, and a simpler way of life. As millennials reshape the landscape of homeownership, tiny homes may just be the blueprint for the future of American living.
