Recent Drone Sightings Prompt Heightened Alert
Unidentified drones were observed flying over Danish military sites, including Karup Air Base – the country’s largest military facility – during the night of December 12, 2023.Danish officials have characterized these incidents as a “hybrid attack,” suggesting possible Russian involvement according to AFP. Police reported observing “one to two drones” near Karup at approximately 8:15 PM local time.

“Drone wall” Inspired by Ukraine
Lithuanian Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis emphasized the need for a swift and collaborative response to the growing drone threat. “We need to move fast,” Mr.Landsbergis told AFP in an interview. “And we need to move, taking all the lessons from Ukraine and making this drone wall together with Ukraine.” This statement highlights a growing consensus within Europe to learn from Ukraine’s experience in countering drone attacks.
Ukraine has become a testing ground for drone warfare, both in offensive and defensive capabilities. The conflict has demonstrated the vulnerability of critical infrastructure to drone attacks and the importance of developing effective countermeasures. The concept of a “drone wall” likely refers to a layered defense system incorporating detection, jamming, and interception technologies.
