Two separate incidents in Germany involving intoxicated cyclists have led to charges of drunken driving, according to police reports released tuesday.
Murrhardt man Found Stuck in Hedge
In Murrhardt, located in the Rems-Murr-Kreis region, a 54-year-old man found himself in an unusual predicament Tuesday afternoon.Police reported that the man, riding a pedelec (electric bicycle) on Fornsbacher Straße, crashed into a hedge surrounding a private property and became lodged within the foliage.
Upon arrival, officers noted the man’s instability. “The 54-year-old could hardly stand when the police arrived,” authorities stated.A blood sample was taken, and the cyclist now faces charges for operating a vehicle while intoxicated. Police did not release the man’s blood alcohol content.
Waiblingen Cyclist Weaving on Sidewalk
In a separate incident, police in waiblingen observed a 62-year-old cyclist exhibiting an unsteady riding style. A subsequent breathalyzer test revealed a blood alcohol level of nearly 0.14%, prompting immediate action.
According to police, the 62-year-old was riding on the sidewalk. officers reported that the man had difficulty dismounting his bicycle during the stop. He also faces charges for cycling under the influence.
