Teh DTM season is entering a critical phase as the series heads to Spielberg,Austria,for the penultimate race weekend. Lucas Auer, entering his tenth DTM season, is currently leading the championship standings but experienced a concerning issue during free practice on september 14, 2024.His Mercedes-AMG GT3 car suffered a technical malfunction on the start-finish line, requiring a tow and briefly halting the session at the Red Bull Ring.
Tight Championship Fight
Despite the early practice setback, Auer maintains a narrow lead in the championship with 151 points. he is only two points ahead of Jack Aitken, driving a Ferrari 296 GT3, who has 149 points. The competition remains fierce, with Ayhancan Güven (Porsche) and Jordan Pepper (Lamborghini) both closely trailing with 145 points each. Austrian driver Thomas Preining (Porsche) is also within striking distance, holding 136 points.
