A biosimilar version of the popular diabetes medication dulaglutide (Trulicity) has demonstrated promising results in a recent clinical trial. LY05008 (also known as BA5101), developed by Boan Biotech, showed comparable safety, how the drug is processed by the body (pharmacokinetics), and the body’s immune response (immunogenicity) to the original brand. The study, conducted on Chinese adults with type 2 diabetes, confirmed that LY05008 effectively lowered hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) levels, a key marker of blood sugar control, to a similar degree as dulaglutide.
