Dunne to Test McLaren Formula E Car, Expanding Team Role

Alex Dunne, the Formula 2 points leader, will get behind the wheel for McLaren at the Formula E rookies’ test in Berlin on July 14.The test follows the Berlin ePrix, scheduled for July 12-13.
Dunne, an Irishman, currently leads the F2 standings with two feature-race wins during his rookie season.As a member of McLaren’s Young Driver Program, this Formula E test represents a significant possibility to showcase his skills.
The 19-year-old also serves as McLaren’s Formula E reserve driver when his F2 schedule allows.This upcoming test will be his second time in Formula E machinery, following a previous rookie test in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
Dunne expressed enthusiasm for the opportunity to build upon his Jeddah experience. He said he has learned a lot about maximizing the performance of these cars as joining the team as reserve and development driver.
Ian James,McLaren’s Formula E team principal,noted Dunne’s crucial role in supporting the team this season. James said he is pleased Dunne will have another chance to drive the GEN3 Evo in Berlin, adding that Dunne has shown grate pace and skill in Formula 2 this season.
Ella Lloyd, McLaren’s F1 Academy driver, is also slated to participate in the test, driving the team’s other car.
