Durian Frenzy: Three ‘Queens’ Fetch a Whopping 2.6 Billion VND in Dak Lak Auction
Durian Festival in Krong Pac District Sees Record-Breaking Auctions
The Durian Festival in Krong Pac district, Dak Lak, has made headlines with the auction of three “durian queens” for a staggering 2.6 billion VND.
According to Mr. Tran Hong Tien, Secretary of the Krong Pac District Party Committee, the three durian queens were successfully auctioned off on September 1. The ancient durian queen fetched 350 million VND, while the Dona durian queen was sold for 900 million VND. The Ri6 durian queen took the top spot with a whopping 1.4 billion VND.
The entire auction winning amount will be utilized to develop the durian industry and support social security initiatives in the area, as stated by Mr. Tien.
The 2024 Krong Pac District Durian Festival, themed “Krong Pac Durian – Development and Integration,” kicked off on the evening of August 31 at Tan An Lake Square in Phuoc An town.
Krong Pac district boasts an impressive 8,000 hectares of durian plantations, yielding nearly 90,000 tons per year. This makes it the leading locality in Dak Lak province in terms of area, productivity, and durian output.
In recent years, durian has emerged as a key crop in Dak Lak, surpassing other crops in terms of economic value.
Statistics reveal that the lives of people in Krong Pac district have undergone a significant transformation in 2022 and 2023. Residents have built spacious houses, and the district has seen the arrival of over 1,000 new cars, including many luxury vehicles, within just two years.
