Dylan Dreyer’s Gluten-Free Thanksgiving: Tips for Safe Holiday Cooking
Dylan Dreyer shared her Thanksgiving plans online. The co-host of the 3rd Hour of TODAY said she was excited not to cook a full Thanksgiving meal this year. However, she decided to prepare gluten-free side dishes for dinner.
Dylan’s son, Calvin, has celiac disease and cannot eat gluten. She posted a kitchen photo, mentioning she would make gluten-free rolls. In her November 26 post, she wrote, “Yay!! Not cooking for Thanksgiving this year!!! Oh wait…” She also planned to bring her own utensils and gluten-free bread to prevent cross-contamination.
Dylan listed her gluten-free dishes, which included stuffing, mashed potatoes, rolls, carrots, green bean salad, and sweet potatoes. She humorously stated, “I know you’ve been missing my Thanksgiving list!!”
In the comments, many parents related their experiences cooking gluten-free. One parent shared, “Food allergy mom here… Even my picky parents don’t know they’re missing anything.” Another mentioned traveling with kitchen tools to prepare safe meals for their celiac daughter.
In May 2023, Dylan revealed that Calvin had celiac disease after suffering stomach pain for over a year. She recounted how they had to make significant changes at home to keep him safe. “All of my stuff in the kitchen had to be thrown out,” she explained, highlighting the importance of eliminating cross-contamination risks.
After a difficult year, Dylan said Calvin finally felt better. “He’s happy we discovered this because it’s like, ‘OK, good. I can finally feel like myself.’”
