€185,000 Drug Seizure in Cork: Two Arrested in

Major Drug Bust Nets $230,000 Worth of Ecstasy and Cocaine in Cork

Cork, Ireland – A weekend raid in Cork has dealt a meaningful blow to drug trafficking networks, resulting in the seizure of a considerable amount of illegal drugs with an estimated street value of $230,000. The operation, part of the nationwide effort known as Operation Tara, targeted drug trafficking rings across Ireland.

officers from the Cork City Divisional Drugs unit executed a search warrant at a residence in Douglas on Saturday. The search yielded a staggering 15,000 ecstasy tablets, valued at approximately $187,500, and half a kilogram of cocaine, estimated to be worth around $43,750.

“This seizure represents a significant disruption to the supply of dangerous drugs in our community,” said a Garda spokesperson.”Operation Tara is committed to dismantling these criminal networks and protecting the public from the harm caused by drug trafficking.”

A man in his 30s was arrested at the scene and later charged in connection with the drug bust. He is scheduled to appear before a special sitting of Mallow district Court on Monday, December 23rd.

A woman in her 30s was also taken into custody but has as been released without charge. Authorities are preparing a file for the Director of Public Prosecutions.

The seized drugs will undergo further analysis at forensic Science Ireland.

Cork Residents React

News of the bust has sent shockwaves through the Cork community.

“It’s scary to think this was happening right here in our neighborhood,” said Sarah, a douglas resident. “You never know what’s going on behind closed doors.”

Liam, another Cork resident, expressed relief at the seizure.”It’s good to know that the Gardaí are cracking down on this kind of activity,” he said. “Hopefully, this will make a difference.”

The gardaí are urging anyone with details about drug trafficking activity to come forward.

“we rely on the public’s help to combat this issue,” said the spokesperson. “Any information, no matter how small, could be crucial to our investigations.”
