Updated Reward Structures

On April 8, 2026, Rakuten adjusted the reward amounts for these offers. The bonus for the Bank of America Customized Cash Rewards card was increased from 7,500 points or $75 to 15,000 points or $150.

During the same update on April 8, 2026, the rewards for the Bank of America Travel Rewards card were decreased from 25,000 points or $250 to 15,000 points or $150.

The specific form of the reward—whether provided as cash back or as points—depends on the earning settings configured within the member’s Rakuten account.

To qualify for the cash back associated with the Customized Cash Rewards card, new and approved customers must keep the account open for a minimum of three months.

Bank of America Welcome Offers

These Rakuten incentives are separate from the welcome offer provided directly by Bank of America. The bank’s offer provides 25,000 points, which are redeemable as $250 cash back, after the cardholder spends $1,000 within the first 90 days of account opening.

The Bank of America Travel Rewards card is a Visa Signature card that carries no annual fee and does not charge foreign currency conversion fees.

The earning rates for the Travel Rewards card include a base rate of 1.5% on all purchases, with an increased rate of 3% for travel booked through the Bank of America travel center.

Rakuten Portal Process

To access these bonuses, members must click through the Rakuten portal to apply for the credit cards. The general process for earning rewards through the portal involves the following steps:
