KOMPAS.com – Astronomers have the potential to find an atmosphere similar to Earth’s on an exoplanet for the frist time.
The planet is part of the planetary system located 40 light-years away from Earth, known as Trappist-1.
Trappist-1 was initially discovered by five Belgian astronomers in 2016. As then, the planet has been investigated intensively.
However, astronomers are still awaiting analysis from the James Webb Space Telescope to determine whether the planet is potentially habitable.

what is Trappist-1?
astronomers at the Space Telescope Science Institute in Baltimore, Nestor Espinoza, explained that TRAPPIST-1 is a truly alien system, despite being discovered nine years ago.
The planet’s size is similar to Earth’s and it orbits it’s star every six days, much faster than Earth orbits the Sun.
“The star is very, very small, about the size of Jupiter, and has at least seven rocky planets orbiting it,” he said, quoted from CNN.
The shorter orbital period is due to the star being much smaller than our Sun.
