Panpal said;

This earthquake is in a place I know very well, it has been talked about and I expect it. After February 6, there are many earthquakes in the region around Göksün in the North, but remember that there was an earthquake of about 5.5 magnitude in July 2023 around Kozan in the South. Last summer, again in August, I think it was right around 4.5. As I have always studied that region and mapped the faults there, the Akçaluşağı fault and the Minnetli fault, these are interconnected normal faults in an East-West direction. Although our fellow Members generally report that they expect earthquakes on strike-slip faults in the North-South direction, I was in that region last summer for fieldwork because I work in the region. I still explain that east-west oriented normal faults are active and have the potential to produce magnitude 5-6 earthquakes.
