East Java as an Elephant Cage? Hasto Says Elections Will Be Long

PDIP responded calmly to a statement by PSI Chairman Kaesang Pangarep, who expressed his desire to make Central Java (Jateng) province a stronghold for the Elephant – PSI’s logo.
Jateng has long been closely associated with PDIP, even being referred to as the “banteng” (buffalo) stable. This is because the region has almost always been a vote base for the buffalo-logo party.
Regarding PDIP’s response, through party Secretary-General Hasto Kristiyanto, PDIP responded calmly to Kaesang’s statement. Hasto simply stated that the election contest is still long.

“The election is still long. The people will determine it. The people will determine, they have sovereignty,” Hasto said to reporters in Ancol, North Jakarta, Saturday (january 10, 2026).
