East LA Standoff Ends: Suspect in Assault Surrenders After Eight-Hour Barricade
A man suspected of assault with a deadly weapon surrendered to sheriff’s deputies after a standoff in East Los Angeles. The incident started around 12:30 p.m. on Saturday in the 3900 block of Gleason Street.
The sheriff’s department evacuated nearby homes for safety. A Crisis Negotiation Team tried to talk to the man inside the residence. Deputies from the Special Enforcement Bureau surrounded the home.
The suspect gave up at 8:25 p.m. and was arrested without any issues. After his surrender, all evacuated neighbors returned to their homes safely.
