Taylor Fritz Continues Strong Run, Reaches Eastbourne final

Taylor Fritz, ranked No. 5 in the world, secured a spot in his fourth Eastbourne final with a hard-fought victory, continuing his impressive form leading up to Wimbledon. The defending champion overcame SpainS Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, world No.28, with a score of 6-3, 3-6, 6-1.
Fritz is set to face fellow American Jenson Brooksby in the final on Saturday. Brooksby, currently ranked No. 149,has enjoyed a remarkable run at Eastbourne as a lucky loser after an early exit in the qualifying rounds. Earlier Friday, Brooksby rallied from a set down to defeat France’s Ugo Humbert, the fourth seed, 3-6, 6-3, 7-5.
Fritz, fresh off a victory against Alexander Zverev in the Stuttgart Open final 12 days prior, is considered among the favorites for the Wimbledon title. He reached the quarter-finals last year. His Wimbledon campaign begins Monday against France’s Giovanni Mpetshi perricard, ranked No. 36.
The Eastbourne men’s singles title has become somewhat of a specialty for Fritz, who has claimed three of the last five editions.
Fritz expressed confidence after his semi-final win.”I always feel like things are going to work out for me because they always do for some reason here,” Fritz said. “Just showing up here and being on site and playing on centre court. I do that have that bit of confidence.”
