EBU Secures Broadcasting Rights for 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup

The European Broadcasting Union (EBU) has secured the media rights for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup across 18 territories on behalf of 19 member organizations. The agreement ensures extensive free-to-air coverage of the tournament across television, radio, and digital platforms.
Under the terms of the deal, EBU members will broadcast all matches live. The agreement further mandates that at least one match per day must be aired on EBU Member channels. Comprehensive highlights of the tournament will be distributed with support from Eurovision News.
Tournament Hosting and Logistics
Brazil will host the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup from June 24 to July 25, 2027. This marks the first time the competition will be held in South America. FIFA announced Brazil as the host country on May 17, 2024.
The tournament will be contested by 32 teams from six confederations across eight venues in eight host cities. This will be the second and final edition of the tournament featuring 32 teams, as FIFA has confirmed an expansion to 48 teams for the 2031 edition.
Spain enters the competition as the defending champions after winning their first title in 2023.
Brazil’s Hosting History
With the 2027 event, Brazil becomes the sixth nation to host both the men’s and women’s World Cups, joining Sweden, the United States, Germany, France, and Canada. Brazil previously hosted the men’s World Cup in 1950 and 2014.
Brazil is also the first country to host eight different FIFA competitions. In addition to the men’s and women’s World Cups, the nation has hosted:
- The 2016 Olympic football tournaments
- The 2000 FIFA Club World Championship
- The 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup
- The 2019 FIFA U-17 World Cup
- The 2008 FIFA Futsal World Cup
- The first three editions of the FIFA-organized Beach Soccer World Cup in 2005, 2006, and 2007
